Spring 2019 has started with an interesting discussion about glass in the kiln. Daiken suggested that at some point this term, we will explore using clay with glass -- creating molds that the glass can "slump" into through the firing process in the kiln. I can't wait to try this!
Instead of starting with images of my work in clay, I thought I'd share this - it's what happened the first day of class. In the midst of discussion on glass slumping, this guy walks in. Like he knew where to go for a hand out (Daiken is always feeding strays... students... faculty... staff... dogs.... ghosts...). And there's almost always someone in that area that will take a stray home. Yeah... that would be me.
Meet Beto. Unaltered. No collar or tags. No microchip. No response to ads in the newspaper, Facebook, PawBoost, Animal Control.
Beto really liked Daiken... especially because Daiken gave him chicken and water. Poor litte guy was hungry. And check out what 75 bucks will get ya at the groomer! Beto cleans up pretty nicely.
