Meet Jose. A dancer by trade, Jose grew up singing Mariachi music for tips on the beaches of Cozumel. A few classy cougar tourists helped him harness his natural Latin rhythm to become a ballroom dancer. His fiery Latin moves on and off the dance floor propelled him to fame. But during his first season as a pro on Dances With Stars, Jose experienced a debilitating fatal groin pull while performing a combo move... splits and a lift... in a Beastie Boy’s dance sequence with Rebel Wilson. This marked the end of his dance career.
Buy him a shot... he’ll tell you stories. O! The stories.
Jose loves dogs, and now is only photographed in their company.
El Sombrero Blanco: Jose is a ceramic shot glass, whose body was thrown on the ceramic wheel. Facial features, arms, legs, and other appendage(s) were hand built and attached using scoring (both the body and the appendage) and then adhering together, blending to avoid seems. Jose's facial features and appendages were glazed with a ceramic underglaze (Birthday Suit); eyes and facial hair are also underglazes. His body was glazed with Rain Forest (x3), with swirls and swishes of Arctic Blue (x3) and Smokey Merlot (x3).
El Sombrero Rojo: Jose is rather goofy looking, and like most of my pieces is a little lopsided. But when I look at Jose, I feel such happiness. Yes. I amuse myself, and that's all that matters!
El Sombrero Amarillo: I really love the quirkiness of this piece, and am really rather pleased with the glaze! I like it!
El Sombrero Roso: I hate that Jose's feet are so flat... like they were run over by the Tequila Truck. Ay Caramba!
El Sombrero Verde: I need to take more time and care with the extremeties in the future, and work to ensure that the foot slopes down from the ankle to the toes. It's not a flat structure!
El Sombrero Azul: I am pleased with this piece even with his flat feet. I give him two appendages up!
